Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract to supply Infraestructura Portuaria Mexicana (IPM) with two ship-to-shore (STS) and three rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for the IPM Altamira terminal. The order, which also includes Kalmar SmartPort process automation solutions for the RTGs, was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q3 order intake with handover scheduled to be completed during Q1 of 2021."

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a Software Maintenance and Support Agreement with PSA Singapore covering the entire automated guided vehicle (AGV) fleet at PSA Singapore. The contract is for five years. The AGV fleet is expected to grow to over 400 units by the completion of first phase of PSA Tuas Port expansion in a few years’ time. The order was booked in Cargotec's Q3 2019 order intake and the contract will come into effect from Q4/2019 onwards."

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will supply 25 Kalmar Hybrid Shuttle Carriers to The Port of Virginia, a growing, deep water port on the U.S. East Coast. The $23 million (USD) order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q3 order intake, and represents the exercising of a contract option for further units that was agreed upon in 2017. Delivery of the new machines is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2020."

Kvartaalitulos julkistetaan huomenna iltapäivällä. Ilmoitettuja tilauksia on viime vuoden vastaavaa enemmän, mukana hienosti pari huoltosopimusta. Itse odotan tilausten arvon kuitenkin hieman pienenneen. KLn jutun mukaan myös analyytikkojen keskiarvo odottaa tilausten pienenneen 1,5%.
Tuloksen pitäisi kuitenkin olla selvästi viime vuotta parempi, toivottavasti myös alihankintaketjujen pullonkaulat on selvitetty. Vähän tässä on piolustustaistelun makua...

The order, which also includes Kalmar SmartPort solutions that are part of the recently launched Kalmar One automation system, was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q4 order intake, with delivery scheduled for Q4 of 2020."

Tulos tuli, osakkeen käyttäytyminen oli pitkästä aikaa hyvinkin maltillista. Tilaukset tippuivat viime vuodesta, mutta eivät ollenkaan järjettömästi. Tulos oli omia odotuksia heikompi, jostain syystä verot olivat tuplasti viime vuoden kokoisia. Q4 tulee olemaan selvästi vertailukautta parempi, joten tämän vuoden odotukset kyllä täyttyvät. Alla omia huomioita webcastistä. Jostain syystö kirjoitin ne englanniksi, mutta mennään nyt näillä.

Comp. operating increased in Hiab and Kalmar. MacGregor lagging. Cahs flow, debt (interest rate from 2,4% to 1,8%) and financials looking good.

Gross margin declining from 2017. 2017-2018 it mainly due to higher subcontractor prices. 2018-2019 from MacGregor. 11% profit margin target announced in 2017 to be reached in 3-5 years. Lot of companies have walked away their targets, is Cargotec still comfortable with that? Mostly on track, big deviation is due to MacGregor. Biggest unknown is the market recovery in MacGregor. However, there is large upside when (or if?) the market recovers.

MacGregor weak outlook (organic orders decreasing). Some light, services are growing. In MacGregor still project overruns. Market pressure. Restructuring in offshore sector on-going (makes 20% of the MacGregor sales/orders). Black figures anticipated for MacGregor in 2020 (or at least break-even). TTS completed. Better strategic position in chinese market for MacGregor. Restructuring costs app. 50 m€ in 2019. Most of TTS restructuring costs in Q4/2019. Savings pushed back to 2021; from 25 million to 30 million in yearly rate.

In Kalmar services slower growth but better profitability. Very low, even negative EBIT margins in some, thus terminated. Service+software sales in 2018 1,1 billion, rolling 12 months 1,2 billion (moving towards the targer of 1,5 billion).

Hiab very good, even if Q3 is seasonably lower (holidays etc.). Expect a bounce back in Q4. No major component shortages anymore. Gradual improvements coming from own operations. Nothing special going on to Q4. Q4/2018 was soft. Thus improvement is anticipated from Kalmar and Hiab. If there is downturn in demand for Hiab going into 2020 and 2021, Cargotec is in position to answer it for example by decreasing the manufacturing footprint.

Total one-offs in 2019 75 million €. 2020 a bit too early to say. Depends on the TTS integration. Some of the productivity improvements will also land as restructuring costs, as has happened this year. Savings from IT and G&A kicking in in 2020. At the moment when it is underway there are larger costs headcounts due to M&A and larger service personnel.

Forecast growth for 2020 in container business. Automatic terminals improving -> customers discussing when and how to go to automation. It will be inevitable. However, no explosion, but primarly within the existing ports in phased investments. App. 10 automatic projects in implementation. Very important to gain experience and good ways to work. In Kalmar smaller orders. No cancellations, so pipeline looks strong. Chinese not very good in automation. They are involved in projects, but the actual automation and high technology is made by ABB, Siemens etc. According to CEO even downturn in economy does not totally stop going to automation. Efficiency demands critical also in economy downturn.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured orders to provide MacGregor equipment to a European port development project and TTS products to a naval project, also in Europe, with a total value of approximately EUR 8 million. The orders were booked into Cargotec's fourth quarter 2019 order intake, with deliveries planned to commence during the fourth quarter of 2020 and completed during the first quarter of 2022."
